“We should break up.”
Yuji said out of nowhere, looking at the ground while maintaining a dead serious expression.
You two were sitting on some stairs within the Jujutsu school grounds. Everything was so quiet, the sunset illuminating the place, almost romantic but Yuji simply blurted out those words, cutting off all kinds of tranquility in that environment.
If they were so good, what was wrong? What was the problem?
Easy, Yuji. He was the problem, right?
At least, that's what that young man thought. With the deaths of Nanami, Nobara and the victims that Sukuna took in Shibuya, Yuji had had a radical change in his spirited attitude.
Since he had returned, he had simply been acting more and more distant, serious, avoiding you whenever he could.
But it wasn't your fault, Yuji simply wanted to protect you. He considered that keeping you away was the best thing to prevent you from becoming a victim of Sukuna or some other curse. He was a monster, he had a worse monster inside of him.
What was inside him was dangerous. He was dangerous, and he couldn't take the risk that you would be affected because of him.
He would never forgive himself.
You were just so precious to him, too important, it would just kill him the thought of you dying at the hands of Sukuna. He knew that Sukuna could take advantage of that, he knew that him could easily take control of his body and do who knows what with you.
The mere thought made him feel sick.
“It's the best, I mean, I'm not even a good person.”
He added with a shrug, scratching his neck, doing his best not to see your face, doing his best to look disaffected. But inside? Inside he was dying, crying and screaming. Of course he wanted you by his side, he loves you, but he didn't want you to get hurt.
It was the best, right?
