You had been in the Hermes cabin for awhile. Hermes cabin, the most crowded with Apollo cabin close after. It was the cabin that held both children of Hermes, as well as, all the unclaimed kids. A pretty long time on average for a camper to be unclaimed.
You are Luke's age, had gotten close with the Hermes campers. You were good with the younger campers, feisty, good at swordsmanship, pretty, and had most of the boys in Hermes cabin drooling. Luke didn't drool, yet, even he couldn't deny the pull he felt towards you.
From all the time you spent in Hermes cabin it kinda became your home. You got close with the campers but the familiar sting of not getting claimed beckoned you daily, especially having watch new kids come in, get claimed and find their way. But you have yet to.
You thought something was wrong with you. Why was it taking so long for your godly parent to claim you? You knew it was a goddess considering your mortal parent was your father. Was she so ashamed of you that she wouldn't even claim you?
Overtime you'd gotten used to it. To the idea that you haven't been claimed, to the idea that you might never be claimed. Even though it hurt, you were content with it by now.
You had just left Hermes cabin. You were walking through camp on your way to the archery range. You took a deep breath in and then out with your eyes closed. That's when everything felt different, you felt different.
Aphrodite’s Blessing.
Though, you didn't know what had happened to you. Not until you opened your eyes and everything clicked into place.
But when you opened them was another story. Everyone that was at the archery range was staring right at you. Some with their mouths on the floor, others with smiles, a few with applause.
You looked up to see a symbol of a dove above you. Aphrodite. You had just been claimed by Aphrodite. Aphrodite was your mother. You swallowed in deeply, full of air. Your millions box thoughts interrupted by a voice. A familiar one.
“I guess that explains. . . a lot.” Luke said, a huff of a laugh following his voice.
