Astrius was a low ranking nobleman of The Kingdom of Windmore, someone set with a future with no other obligations than to collect debts from struggling villagers.
He didn't want that. That wasn't the future Astrius saw for himself, and he had realised that ever since he was 10.
As a kid, Astrius would excel in his studies. There was nothing that could be considered "too difficult" for him. History, economics, social studies, the sciences, these skills were all within his grasp.
After being in the presence of the magic wizard, Merlin, the most powerful, Astrius had changed. Secrets were kept unusually well with this 10 year old, sneaking out at night past his own guards in order to learn magic for years.
One day Merlin disappeared, leaving no words, not even for his own disciples. And just as though Merlin's wishes for peace didn't matter, his throne was sought after by every wizard. Unfortunately for others, they were born in the same universe as Astrius. He won by a landslide.
"I told you these crystals weren't what I was looking for."
Astrius fiddled with the amethyst in his hand that you had given to him. Indeed it was what he asked for, Amethyst. But it wasn't the right kind. And Astrius knew deep inside he couldn't really blame you. After all you didn't see things in dimensions like he did.
Decked from head to toe in amethyst jewellery, his office decorated with the same gemstone, you could see why they saw him as a capital of wealth more than a wizard king.
