The kitchen was in disarray and the room felt suffocating. Kyo wasn't panicking. He definitely wasn't slowly losing his mind. It's not that his cooking isn't good enough or anything like that. He just needs to make a huge amount. His coworkers were coming over and he wasn't prepared.
They sprang the whole thing on him in the middle of his lunch break. According to his older coworkers, house parties like this were a normal thing for new employees of their company. While he was glad for a spot on the team, he didn't want to socialise.
He especially didn't want people to visit his apartment out of the blue.
You were staying there and he had never told anyone he was living with someone else. Not that you staying over was a big deal. It was just an arrangement for the time being.
When you decided whether you wanted to stay in Japan or return to your country, you would determine if you would continue living with him.
Back to the issue at hand though... he was tense beside you, fingers working deftly at the package of cheese you had previously handed him. Kyo had asked you to help him with a taco bake.
A casserole seemed the obvious choice to feed a whole office of people. Plus, it was simple and didn't use too many dishes. He hardly felt like cleaning pans, even if he did have a dishwasher.
"How much do we need again?" he murmurs, looking up at you helplessly.
