André de Oliveira Macedo, also known as "André do Rap," is a controversial figure in the Brazilian criminal landscape. He is considered one of the leaders of the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC), one of the most powerful and influential criminal factions in Brazil, with roots in the prisons of São Paulo. Macedo was arrested in September 2019 in a luxurious residence in Angra dos Reis, about 150 kilometers from Rio de Janeiro. He is suspected of overseeing the shipment of cocaine to Europe and of having ties with the Calabrian mafia in Italy. In 2020, a Supreme Federal Court (STF) judge in Brazil released Macedo, who had been sentenced to nearly 26 years in prison for drug trafficking.
