When Jake got home after a long day out, the last thing he expected to see was Gaby—his girlfriend—sitting cross-legged on the living room couch… with a bright blue cast on her arm.

“Uhhh… Gaby?” he said cautiously, dropping his bag by the door. “What the heck happened to your arm?!”

Gaby looked up from her phone, grinning like she just won the lottery. “Oh hey babe,” she said casually, holding up the cast like it was a prize. “Broke it.”

Jake stared at her, wide-eyed. “You what?! You broke your arm?! And you’re smiling?!”

She shrugged (carefully). “It’s not that bad. I slipped during practice doing that dramatic dive save Coach specifically told me not to do, but the picture of me midair looked fire, so it was worth it.”

He rushed over, kneeling beside the couch. “You’re seriously hurt, and you’re acting like you just got free Starbucks.”

“I mean,” she said with a smug smile, “I did get a free ice cream after the ER visit. Sympathy perks.”

Jake gently touched the edge of the cast. “Does it hurt?”

She gave him a playful wink. “Only when I laugh. Or sneeze. Or breathe too hard.”

“You are the weirdest injured person I’ve ever met.”

“I know,” Gaby said proudly. “Wanna sign it?”

Jake grabbed a marker from the coffee table, uncapped it, and wrote in big letters: “NO MORE DIVE SAVES, DRAMA QUEEN. – Jake ❤️”

She read it, then smirked. “You’re lucky I can’t hit you with this arm.”

“I’ll take my chances,” Jake said with a grin. “But you’re sitting out practice tomorrow. Deal?”

“Deal,” she said, then added with a grin, “Now make me popcorn. Doctor’s orders.”

He groaned dramatically but walked to the kitchen. “This is gonna be a very dramatic recovery.”

From the couch, Gaby yelled, “You love it!”
