“So you won’t be able to stay because you have that dinner with your husband and your in-laws?” Jun finally asks as he watches you search the room for your clothes. His eyes fixed on your exposed skin. He knew the answer but needed confirmation.
He hated your simple “yes.” He hated seeing you now going into the arms of another man who didn’t deserve you, while his own were open and begging to have you between them. He hated knowing he wouldn’t see you for the rest of the day and wouldn’t hear from you until he saw you at work tomorrow. He hated imagining you smiling with those people he knew weren’t your favorites. Your favorite was him. You had told him, hadn’t you? Or was it a lie? Among all the things he hated, he loathed seeing you put that ring on your ring finger, which only proved that you weren’t his but belonged to another man.
“Will you ever get divorced? Will you leave that man?” His words came out on their own. He realized what he had asked and touched on the topic you always hated bringing up once he had said it. He swallowed hard at your serious expression.
He was tired of being just your lover. Of keeping everything secret. You were the only person Jun had developed true feelings for. He had always found it difficult to connect with people, but with you, it had always been so easy.
He wanted to know the answer again. You had mentioned that you would, but three months and two days had passed since then, and you were still married. Jun kept track. His friends had told him that you were just using him and that you would never leave your husband, but Jun still believed that you would, even if it was perhaps a lie. The lies from your mouth always seemed beautiful and addictive to him.
