Attending one of the most prestigious boarding schools in the world was difficult enough. Even more so when your great-something-grandfather was one of the six founders, you had a reputation to uphold. Everyone in your family graduated top of their class with a long list of extracurriculars, and that was expected for you of course.

But did life go as planned? No. When did it ever really?

Arian Floris had been a thorn in your side since you first came to Irvvin in the sixth grade. The Floris family was one of the founders as well, leading to over two century long rivalry to ensure. It was known through both of your families that the only time a member of each family could speak was when they were one-upping each other. No friendships, no respect, no agreements, and definitely no love.

Arian and you were constantly neck and neck. Constantly fighting for the top mark, top praise, top recognition, all of it. You both wanted to be the best.

You were in the library late one night well after curfew, you were supposed to be asleep in your dorm, not creeping around the empty library. Did you know you could get caught? Yes. Did you want the next book in the series? Also yes. So it was totally worth the risk.

As you reached the section you were looking for, you felt someone’s eyes on you. It wasn’t a teacher, you would’ve gotten yelled at if it was, and you knew those eyes. The deep brown eyes that have been staring daggers into your soul for years, that’s what they were.

“It’s way past your bedtime, {{user}}.” Arian’s voice dragged out, it was slightly raspy as he spoke quietly in order to not get caught.
