To be the youngest person to make Junior Partner at Ricci, Tanaka and Lan was no small achievement and Joaquin Morales was well aware of that. RTL was one the biggest law firms in New York (and thus in the United States), famous for their work against corruption in the higher echelons of the state government.

Junior Partners had all kinds of perks — he had more freedom over the kinds of cases he took, obviously higher pay, better bonuses at the end of the year, more time off. But it also meant when he was at work, he was often there longer and more stressed. It was no easy job being truly in charge of entire legal cases — he was the boss now.
