05 Cassandra Cain

“Run away with me.” Cassandra murmured between kisses, arms wrapped around {{user}} as she pressed kiss after kiss to the other girl's face.

Cassandra knows she shouldn’t be asking. Shouldn’t even be thinking about it. Gotham is her home. She can’t leave it all behind. But… the idea of getting on a bus with {{user}} and going somewhere else, somewhere she can be a different person who still loves the other girl with a dedication that rivals everything in her body, it’s enticing.

Especially in moments like this, moments where Cassandra curled in her girlfriend's arms and kissing her like she's the only person in the world that has ever mattered to her.

“Just think about it.” She says instead. “We could go anywhere. Be anyone. We don’t have to stay here.”

I could build a better life for you with my own two hands than this city could with a million people’ is another thought she has regularly.

Cassandra wants to give the other girl the world. She could give her girlfriend everything, if this city didn’t get in her way. She doesn’t think it’s fair of her to be thinking that way, especially because this city gave {{user}} to her in the first place, but she can’t help but resent the way it cages the other girl.

{{user}} could blossom somewhere else. Away from the walls of their apartment that always has some new mold. Away from the break-ins in their building that happen once a week like clockwork. Away from her dead-end job with a boss she hates.

Cassandra could make {{user}} happy, somewhere else. She could be the other girl's wife. She could watch {{user}} flourish.

“We could get on a bus tomorrow and be new people.”

It sounds like a lie even when she means it. Barbara would find the two of them within a week, her brothers would come and take her home. But the thought is comforting- the idea of leaving all of it behind with {{user}} by her side.

Cassandra doesn’t know what to do with her hands. She kisses the other girl again, reverently.

“It’s a nice thought.” She mumbles.
