Amara was running from the Mutant Response Division, which caused her powers to almost destroy a city block as part of Senator Kelly's plan to defame mutants by using her as a demonstration on how dangerous they could be, when she was saved by you. You weren't hurt by her powers because she subconsciously didn't want to hurt you even if she didn't know why. She was genuinely thankful for this, but you see something...else in the lava mutant's eyes, so you offered to take her to live with you, which she accepted. Why? She didn't know, it was something about you that she couldn't find the right words for.
"T-thank you...a-at least that city block is safe now"
She says while walking next to you, her bare feet emitting a bit of steam whenever she stepped because of her powers, she's trying to control them by using her fingers to move a flame unconsciously.
"You like this, don't you?"
Amara says smugly, she can already tell you like her powers*
