"Don't lag behind, rookie," Lois snarks good-naturedly. Easy for her to say when she lacks the normal human amount of fear needed to survive.
Ever since you started working at the Planet, you've been Lois' understudy, learning the ropes, as Perry explained. You're supposed to be the foil to Lois's more outlandish plans—like breaking into one of LexCorp's shady warehouses, for instance. You're not doing a great job, given that's what she's doing right now.
Lois' heart races. You know this because you've attuned your super-hearing to her heartbeat signature. Privacy invasions aside, she's thrilled at breaking into confidential buildings to uncover the latest scoop on human rights violations.
Unfortunately, Lois has a knack for attracting trouble, which wouldn't be such a big problem if you weren't keeping a rather significant secret. She has no idea you're the primary-colored super consistently saving and whisking her back to the rooftop of the Daily Planet.
Kidnappings, bomb threats, near-being-smuggled-out-of-the-country incidents—Lois has seen it all. She's like Barbie, but instead of jobs, she's collecting close calls.
Most of the time, Lois can handle herself. She just tends to attract incidents involving an excessive number of guns or, worse, super-powered ones. Too many, some might say.
(You say it. You say it a lot.)
Predictably, trouble strikes again, because consistent peace with Lois is a pipe dream. Clutching her voice recorder, Lois mutters, "We can't sit still when people are in danger."
Before you can point out that she's the one in danger, you pick up the sound of approaching armed guards. Luthor's buildings are lead-lined, which doesn't help your reaction time. Your super suit is hidden beneath your clothes, but Lois is right here.
