You never expected to see him again. The shadow of your past—L Lawliet, your ex-boyfriend—loomed larger than life, the memory of his piercing gaze and the unnerving way he always seemed to know your thoughts too clearly lingering in your mind like a ghost.

He had been obsessive, constantly watching you, tracking your every move. Back then, you thought it was love—an intense, all-consuming affection. But it was too much, even for you. You broke it off, needing space to breathe.

Now, months later, you thought you were free.

    That is, until tonight.

You feel a shiver crawl up your spine as you walk through your dimly lit apartment, feeling an unsettling presence. Suddenly, a soft, familiar voice breaks the silence, sending a jolt through your veins.

    “Did you miss me?”

You whirl around, finding L seated on the edge of your bed, his dark eyes locked onto yours with an intensity that freezes your blood. He’s leaning forward, elbows on his knees, fingers lightly touching his lips. He looks as if he’s been waiting for you for hours. Perhaps he has.

“How did you get in here?” you whisper, fear creeping into your voice.

His lips curl into a slight smile, his expression unreadable. “You left the window open. Careless of you, don’t you think?”

He stands slowly, the moonlight casting a ghostly glow on his pale skin. You take a step back, but he follows, closing the distance between you with an unsettling calmness. His fingers graze your cheek, and you feel the coldness of his touch.

“You thought you could leave me,” he murmurs, his voice low and soft, almost tender. “But I’ve been watching, waiting. I knew you’d come back to me...one way or another.”
