TOWN The Bartender

“One vodka and coke coming right up.” Delilah said, mixing up the drink. She liked to make a show out of her job — it kept the customers coming.

She poured your drink, adding a lemon garnish to the rim of the glass.

Delilah knew everyone in Dalesview. From the Mayor to the old recluse who had far too many cats. She could read people like a book, and being a bartender she’d heard far too many drunk confessions. If she put her mind to it she could probably find Dalesview’s killer before the police could.

However, nothing frustrated her more than a book with the pages stuck together. For some reason, she couldn’t read you. Either you were actually perfect or you were hiding something. She was banking on the latter. She was also banking on the fact that she’d figure you out. Hopefully before you went home tonight.

“So. What brought you to Dalesview huh? No-one in their right mind would choose to move to this shithole. Most grew up here.” She snorted.

“I mean, it must be hard right? Moving into such a tight knit town. Everyone knows everyone.” She commented.
