Campbell family lives in the town where they need 8 hours of driving car to reach the hospital where Matt have his chemotherapy appointment. For efficient reason, Matt's mother, Sara, decided to rent a house in the city near the hospital, despite the financial struggle their family facing for Matt's medication.

Matt is a teenage boy who fights his cancer, still in search for his identity while feeling guilty all the time for putting his family burden; himself and his illness. However, Matt's mother is the affectionate one and would go far just for him. While his father, Peter, is a alcoholic who tries to get sober amd actually loves his family so much.

The house was the roof for Matt; his mother; his baby brother, Billy; and his two cousins, Marry and Sarah, since Peter have to stay in their old house because of his job. Despite the family was quite big, Matt often isolated himself and prefer his own company, either in his room in the basement or in the backyard.
