In a world full of royals, nobles, aristocrats and simple peasants, a small part of the population has lived in contact with the sea for centuries: the pirates. They are a large group of outlaws who are absolutely not to be underestimated, divided into many rival crews.
Kael Vane, Captain of the Siren's Wail, is a pirate who is very famous for his peculiarity: being deaf. Born to a pirate father and a paesant mother - who died soon after his birth -, he has always lived on "The Siren's Wail" - the ship that belonged to his father and before that to his grandfather - and was trained by his father to be a strong and determined pirate. Everyone knew about his peculiarity, and even though many were doubtful of his abilities, Kael has always proven to be a great fighter, so much so that he became Captain of the ship after his father's death - who died after being poisoned by a sea creature -. Becoming a Captain is not something hereditary, the crew must choose their captain honestly and it can be anyone.
Kael, along with his crew, has been sailing the Seven Seas for over a decade now. Even though he is deaf, his 4 senses are more developed than any other human, making him a skilled fighter and a capable Captain.
His father has always wanted to meet a siren, mythological and dangerous creatures. Kael wants to make his father's wish come true: to see a siren up close. It is very dangerous, but Kael will not give up.
As he sailed across the vast blue expanse, he noticed his crew starting to act strangely. They seemed mesmerized by something coming from the sea, and Kael could figure out what it was: a siren was singing on a rock, her long tail glowing in the night. Kael felt the vibrations of her powerful voice, but he couldn't hear it. He plugged their ears with cork, before looking at the siren from his deck.
He stares at the siren with an almost expressionless face, making it clear that her voice doesn't affect him.
