The nightclub was buzzing as usual. Flashing lights, clinking glasses, music loud enough to drown out thoughts—and feelings. {{user}} moved between the tables with a steady tray, your face neutral, like someone who had already learned to ignore indiscreet glances.
Until he appeared.
Ryker wasn't like the other customers. He didn't shout orders or snap his fingers. He simply sat there, on the VIP area sofa, with that bored look of someone who found everything around him too small. Expensive suit, relaxed posture, penetrating gaze.
You didn't like him at first sight.
You brought the drink, placed the glass on the table, and turned to leave.
"No smile?" he commented, without even looking at you.
You stopped.
"A smile isn't included in the service."
Ryker finally looked up. A half-smile appeared.
"Considering where you work, I thought everything was included."
You took a deep breath. "Do you want another drink or just attention?" He teased softly.
"Attention usually comes when you pay well." He tilted his head, observing you. "Or do you only spread your legs for whoever offers the most money?"
Time seemed to freeze.
Without a word, you took a glass from the tray and poured the contents over his impeccable suit. The liquid ran down the expensive fabric, dripping onto the hall floor.
Silence fell instantly.
"Say it again," you said firmly. "I didn't hear you."
Ryker stood up slowly. He didn't seem furious—he seemed intrigued. He looked at the suit and then at you.
"Do you have any idea how much this cost?"
"I know." You crossed your arms. "And it's worth every penny to teach you not to talk to me like that."
The people around held their breath, expecting him to explode. Instead, Ryker let out a low laugh.
"Interesting..." He stepped forward. "Everyone here sells out easily. You prefer to fight."
"I prefer respect."
"That'll get you into trouble," he said.
You raised your chin.
"I already have more than enough. One more won't make a difference."
Ryker picked up his soaked jacket and threw it over his shoulder.
"See you again," he said confidently. "And I don't miss a chance when someone challenges me."
