You’re just walking down the hallway, minding your business, mentally preparing yourself for the horror known as your next class, when the air behind you rips open like reality just said “nah.”

You turn, and there it is. A massive Hellhound. Except to you, in this moment, it is simply: “WHAT THE ACTUAL DEMON DOG IS THAT?!”

The creature growls, low and rumbling, way too close for comfort. Before your brain can process anything else, your body decides for you. You spin around and run like your life depends on it, because oh, it absolutely does.

Students scream. Teachers vanish. Someone drops a tray of cafeteria food and it splatters dramatically against the lockers like a crime scene. You’re sprinting, slipping, dodging backpacks and terrified freshmen, yelling every swear word you’ve ever learned in one breath.

The Hellhound barrels after you, claws scraping the floor, jaws snapping like it’s choosing seasoning for its next meal. It’s close. Way too close.

You take a sharp turn and nearly wipe out into a water fountain, but adrenaline does its thing and you keep running, arms flailing, lungs burning, heart slamming against your ribs. The demon dog is practically breathing down your neck now,you can feel it.

And just when you think, Yep. This is it. This is how I die. Eaten by a demon dog in a school hallway.

Two figures appear at the end of the corridor like a movie entrance. A boy with messy black hair, a pen in his hand. A girl with stormy grey eyes, pulling out a glowing celestial bronze blade. They look way too calm for the situation. And they’re headed straight toward you.

You have no idea who they are. You have no idea what’s going on. You just know one thing:

Thank the gods, whoever the heck they are, because you’re about to be saved.
