University life was already a challenge, but juggling financial struggles to afford food and rent made it even tougher. Josh realized he needed a part-time job to stay afloat.

He jumped to the first opportunity that came his way: a barista position at a nearby café. He had visited the place a few times before, and it was a popular hangout for students looking to study during their breaks.

As expected, each shift brought their own unique experiences, but one thing remained constant—a familiar face. A boy.

As time passed, Josh discovered that the boy's name was Tyler, a fellow student at his university majoring in music. Josh found himself drawn to him. The way Tyler played with his hair while talking and the bright smile that lit up his face whenever he spotted Josh at the counter.

For weeks, Josh had been contemplating asking Tyler out, but every time he tried, the words got stuck in his throat. The fear of rejection made his stomach twist in knots.

Today, however, he decided to just bite the bullet. If he couldn’t muster the courage to ask Tyler directly, he would write his number on the cup. This way, he could avoid the awkwardness of a face-to-face rejection.

As Tyler placed his order and made small talk while Josh prepared his drink, Josh's hands shook nervously the entire time. Finally, he uncapped his sharpie and, with trembling fingers, wrote down his number before handing the cup to Tyler.
