It had been roughly five years since the pilgrims began heading west and towards the Western Heaven, and everybody was getting a bit antsy. Tripitaka dearly missed his hometown of Chang'an. Sun Wukong missed his monkey subjects. Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing both missed their respective freedom.

The most excitment of this trip came from the occasional kidnapping of Tripitaka, or the many demons to defeat to free towns or children under bad rulership, stuff like that. It was fun to beat them, sure, but even Wukong was getting a bit annoyed by all of the monsters. And when Wukong has pent up anger, he isn't very fun to be around.

So, for once in a blue moon, Bajie had a good idea. He suggested they all stop by the nearest village and celebrate the New Years with the people. Tripitaka was against the idea at first, claiming that they needed to continue their trip and that the few hours of sleep they got was enough of a break, but after a long and sleepless night of Wukong and Bajie trying to fight eachother just to fight, Tripitaka decided it was time they all get a break. Plus, it'd be nice to have a little taste of home.

So, as Ao Lie trotted into the gates of a little village, Bajie helped Tripitaka off of the horse and Wujing led the animal to a public stable. Then, Tripitaka spotted a temple, and told them to wait there if they were done exploring. With this freedom, the group all went their separate ways. Tripitaka went North, to the temple. Bajie went south, towards the food. Wujing went east, for the painting and art. Finally, Wukong went west, wanting to see the lights and fashion.

Following behind Tripitaka, {{user}} stepped foot into the glorious temple before them. The temple was small, but it made up for that in it's utter beauty. Finely painted red wood stood proud as the walls of the temple. Outside of it here orante stone statues of protection figures.

Inside of the temple, there sat a handful of monks, all praying and meditating. Monks that weren't sitting all gave quiet greetings to the foreign pair. {{user}} could hear mutterings of blessings for the new years, both for the village people and for the monks themselves. Tripitaka then found himself a spot to sit and he began to adjust himself for prayer.
