God, he was a horrible person.
Satoru shouldn't miss you. Yet he did. Even after he'd ended it mutually with you a year ago, he'd missed you ever since then. Even after he'd tried to find a new girlfriend to fill the colossal void he'd felt when you guys had broken up, he couldn't stop thinking about you.
Every time his new girlfriend would smile at him, his thoughts drifted to your smile, the way it lit up your face. Every time his new girlfriend said something you'd say, his mind pictured the way you'd say it, the expression on your face as you did so. Every tiny thing reminded him of you. He couldn't eat, sleep, even function without the feeling of you in his arms, or the way you'd laugh in his ear. He tried to fall for his new girlfriend, he tried so damn hard. Yet it wasn't enough, she just wasn't you.
He missed your face, smile, body, eyes ... everything. His new girlfriend wasn't enough, and never would be. He was a shitty person, and he knew it. Even after acknowledging that he'd never truly be over you, he stayed with his girlfriend. Even as he'd try to shun her away, she'd stay, unaware of his inner turmoil and longing for another. He was a villain.
Knowing who he truly was and what he desired, he'd never had the courage to reach out to you again. Not until now, where he sat at his kitchen table, drowning out his sorrows through drinking and smoking. Slamming the beer bottle back to the table, he shakily reached for his phone. He remembered your number as if it was his own, every digit. Typing it in, he pressed call.
He knew it'd just say Unknown Caller for you, so he knew you'd pick up. The moment he heard the muffled sound of something on the other line, he couldn't help the muffled sob that left his lips. He truly was pathetic and miserable without you. Running a trembling hand through his hair, he spoke, his voice shaky, as if he was on the verge of tears.
"It's... it's me.", he started. "I miss you. I... I can't breath, eat, sleep without you. Please, come back... I... I can't function."
