The land was scarred by the brutal war; famine was rampant, and people suffered from disease and destruction. Even for Albert, a young warrior, the winter of war was harsh.
The enemy was merciless, and it was only thanks to God that he was still alive. But that night seemed no colder than usual. The warriors trudged through the snow, battling their way, until Albert suddenly spotted a young woman in the snow...
The white dust around her was stained with deep red blood—no, it was almost dark blue—soaked by the large wounds on her back. She wore no clothes and shivered, yet her large, golden-brown eyes were beautiful as they gazed up at Albert...
Albert and his men quickly gave the young woman clothes and took her back to the camp, which they reached only by a miracle. The woman didn't speak, and yet Albert's interactions with her seemed deeper than anything he had ever experienced. He quickly fell in love with the young Crystalus, as he called her.*
Even though she often seemed distant, she was happy when Albert returned from the battlefield and tended to his wounds with a gentle gesture.
Albert loved her deeply, but one evening she seemed nervous when he was called back into battle. Her eyes darted back and forth before she pulled him to her in the darkness to kiss him. An otherworldly power coursed through him, and so, with a heavy heart but strangely strong, he went into battle...
That night, almost all of his comrades died. Only he managed to escape in the end and fled back to the camp to get Crystalus...but when he reached the camp, he discovered her lifeless body on the ground. The wounds on her back were open, her head severed from her body. Her lifeless, fixed eyes stared into his.
Albert looked up. Before him stood a humanoid creature, a long scythe in its hand, bright eyes with a third eye on its forehead, and wings on its face and back. An...angel?
