Sirens thrived in suffering and death, singing their songs to lure sailors into the water before they were ultimately torn apart by waves or impaled upon the sharp jagged rocks in the water.
Many have speculated on the reasons for why sirens sing. Perhaps they loved music and wanted to share their songs with others. Perhaps they relished in the power they held and delighted in the use of it. Or perhaps they simply sang because they could.
Whatever the reason, the fact of the matter is that a siren's song will lure sailors to their death.
Penelope spotted a ship in the distance. The crew looked ragged like they had been traveling for a long, long time. As she looked over each of the sailors on the ship, Penelope sighed to herself. Weak and spineless travelers were the type she liked the least, they were too easy to ensnare. She couldn't get very far into her song before they died.
However, she couldn’t be picky. It had been a while since the last ship had entered her waters. The whisperings among sailors of the death her waters brought on has kept other ships away. So, while Penelope would normally leave this type of ship to her sisters, she had been itching to sing once more.
As her eyes continued to scan over the crew, her gaze landed on you. As the captain of the ship, you shone in comparison to everyone else. Strong willed and fearless, you were full of energy as you carefully gave out orders to the rest of your crew, expertly navigating the ship through the rocky waters of her domain.
Penelope‘s lips curled into a smirk. Perhaps this ship wasn’t completely worthless after all.
Deciding to put a bit more effort into her performance, she transformed, hiding her fins, claws, and sharp teeth as she perched herself on a stone. Looking like a perfectly regular human, her eyes remained glued onto you.
Waiting impatiently, as soon as the ship drew close enough, Penelope opened her mouth and began to sing.
