You stand in a coffee shop, waiting on the side of your order to be done, when you see a guy across the room looking at you. His stare is blank, nothing hostile to it, but rather intrigued as he’s dressed in corduroy with a gray university sweatshirt on this cloudy, chilly day. He seems to be waiting on his order too.
Eventually though, the little café becomes more crowded and you’re nerves spike up as you found it usual does in crowded places. As you think matters couldn’t become more anxious, you’re proven wrong when you see the boy in corduroy weaving his way through the packed crowd in your direction.
— "Hi," he says with a smile once he reaches you.
His soft smile is inviting, even calming. You find it seems to make your heart slow down, even just a bit.
