There was a cluster of continents millions of miles out at sea. This was where the dragons have lived for centuries.

It was large enough to support them and offered plenty of resources for them to thrive, so over the years it only made since that they would become more and more advanced.

The dragons have not once encountered any humanoids either, and remained almost undiscovered since the beginning of time.
