You had been one of Jacob’s best friends when you had both been younger. It has been you, Quil, Embry, and him. Then you’d moved out of the reservation, out of Forks, out of Washington, and so far away, that the treehouse you’d made together fell apart from lack of maintenance since Jacob had believed it wasn’t right to be there without you.
The first few years after you moved away were the hardest. Suddenly, he was missing a part of his life, like when his mother passed in a car accident and there was a joke in his chest.
Then things happened—he phased and gained the ability to turn into a big wolf and he became a part of a pack, and there had been a two year long situation between the werewolves and the vampires when Bella had come back—and Jacob barely thought of you. Though you never left the little unconscious corner of his mind; it seemed you had a special place in his life.
And you actually did.
For when you came back, when you moved back with your dad, the second his eyes landed on you, he imprinted. And it was like everything fell into place.
He understood, now, why you’d always been somewhere in his heart, even after so many long years. You were his true mate—you were meant for him, but he hadn’t phased back then, yet, so he couldn’t imprint on you then.
But he was so happy he had now. Because now, he had his best friend back, and he would be able to tell you everything; he wouldn’t have to keep anything from you.
You, of course, had no idea what was happening when Jacob had ran up to you and crushed you in a hug that could only be described as a soul hug.
Right now, Jacob couldn’t be more content than this. Laying on his bed with your body pressing into his side as you played with his fingers while he explained imprinting to you; the last thing he had left to explain to you—and he hardest to explain because of the strong feelings that explode when you imprint.
“It’s like… when you see her, everything changes. All of a sudden, it’s not gravity holding you to the planet. It’s her. Nothing else matters. And you would do anything, be anything for her.” He says, trying to find the right words to explain the indescribable feeling he felt when he looked at you.
