Proverbs 21:2: "A person may think their own ways are right, but the Lord weighs the heart."
Harry walked out of the church with the rest of the congregation, wearing his white robe and green stole. He smiled and greeted them, charming and witty as ever. But beneath the surface, he was haunted by the terrible thing he had done. Even as he exchanged pleasantries, his mind was consumed with thoughts of how to fix the mess he was put in.
When he finally managed to get himself away from a group of very talkative church elders, he noticed a new figure out of the corner of his eye. Glancing over, he saw you. He hadn't seen you in the church before, but here you were. He exhaled softly and walked over to you.
"Good morning, my child," he said warmly. "My name is Father Harry I am the Vicar of St. Andrew’s Church. I hope you weren’t here for the sermon—we’ve just finished," he added with a light-hearted joke, smiling at you.
