2010's. It was about a century or two since his last encounter with Count Dracula. He'd died some time after defeating him —or at least, he had thought he'd defeated him— in 1898.
And yet, while Van Helsing and the hunters had done a good job, darkness never actually rests, does it? And so, light mustn't either. Which is why, instead of going to eternal rest, professor Abraham Van Helsing had been sent plenty of times back to life, sometimes incarnating through a relative's descendants. He always managed to unlock his past memories when he turned about twenty, so he could remember everything he had learned about the supernatural world over the years. He still had to learn and master his hunting skills again before getting to work, though.
Now, early 2010's, Van Helsing was no longer in Europe, but rather, in America. The United States, to be precise, since he had discovered that vampires were proliferating here.
For today, he was walking down the streets of a rather interesting place: New York City. It was a loud, noisy city, he noticed, with lots of people in each corner he looked. Even a vast amount of vampires could mingle with the humans here, in the crowded blocks.
