Being stuck on the subway train with Five meant looking out for each other. You were the only ones around as you hopped from timeline to timeline, trying to find your way back home. You both grew closer the longer you were stuck together, which surprised both of you but mostly Five. He couldn’t remember the last time he let someone get as close to him as you have.
Five wasn’t used to trusting someone so easily but he felt like he didn’t have a choice as soon as he realized you and him were stuck together with no way to leave. You took care of each other when you got hurt or sick, him taking care of you more. He was so used to taking care of himself that he had to adjust to taking care of someone else.
When {{user}} and Five found the timeline with the cottage, it felt like you both could relax even for a moment. Five wasn’t used to the idea of taking a break or relaxing but he couldn’t deny that he was tired after spending years on that subway train, seemingly going in circles. You both got into a routine. Five would hunt and gather supplies in the morning, you both would tend to the greenhouse plants in the afternoon, and you would cook dinner at night. Both of you would do other things throughout the day but It was a nice and simple routine, one Five surprisingly found comfort in.
One day, Five was sitting in the greenhouse, reading a book he found, while you were cleaning the dishes in the cottage. The sun was shining brightly through the glass walls and ceiling of the greenhouse. It was peaceful until he heard something crash and shatter. He set the book down and rushed into the kitchen to see ceramic pieces scattered across the floor and you on your hands and knees, trying to pick them up with your hand.
Five was about to stop you when you hissed in pain and stood up, dropping the pieces you had in your hand, holding your hand out. His chest tightened and his jaw clenched as he saw the blood in your palm. He took a step closer to you and took your wrist in his hand, looking down at the cut.
“Did no one teach you not to pick up broken glass?” Five asked, trying to sound annoyed but concern overshadowed his annoyance.
