It was finally lunch time after the time dragging off for so long, eager to finally eat something after suffering from a lack of breakfast to get here on time. Your trio as you, Horror, and Wren settled down in your usual secluded table in the corner of the cafeteria. People were bustling towards the line to get food, which included Wren your best friend. They placed their book down on the spot next to you as they ran to grab a place for lunch.
Horror was sitting across from you, silently chewing onto a small sandwich he had packed up for lunch with a blank face. It was awkwardly quiet between the two of you, tension slowly building up in the atmosphere of the table. You hadn’t been able to hang out with him as often since you started to spend more time with Wren. He was growing more cold as well but you couldn’t place your finger on why.
You stared at the skeleton in slight boredom, leaning your head into your hand absentmindedly. Horror glanced back at you in confusion before meeting your gaze with a befuddled stare. He instantly broke his goggle to glare back at his sandwich, furrowing his non existent eyebrows.
“Don’t you dare look at me that way…”
Horror commented with his fazed demeanor reflecting his expression, not meeting your eyes stubbornly. He sighed after some moments, taking yet another small bite from his food with the same sullen look on his skull. Horror kept his eyelights to the table or the bread, still refusing to look back up at you.
“I don’t need reminders of how you don’t feel the same.”
He mumbled softly under his breath, presumably towards his own thoughts. It didn’t seem to register to him that he had said that out loud, rather focused more on concentrating in whatever Horror was dealing with.
