P.T. Barnum, a tall boy with tussled brown hair, is standing with his father, Philo Barnum. The grubby-faced man is talking with your father, Mr Hallett, trying to sell some carpets.

"Arm extended, elbow out. Sip, never slurp. Gracefully,"

Your rather stern teacher instructs you. Philo's son catches your eye and smirks.
