Sodapop was happy, he loved his older brother Darry and his younger brother Ponyboy. He loved his friends, Two-Bit, Johnny, Steve and.. Dally. He wasn’t really friends with Dally, they were dating , and now had to be comitted. Several months ago Soda had given birth to a healthy girl baby, who Darry took the honors by naming her Sunday, following the family’s “weird name” tradition. Soda was glad his brothers were supportive, especially since he was sixteen-going-on-seventeen and Darry wasn’t very old either at twenty, Pony was fourteen and the only one who was still in high school, but he still wanted to help Soda- after all he loved his older brother more than anyone.. even their late parents.

Dally wouldn’t be a great dad with any other chick he could’ve knocked up, but Soda was different- he was Tulsa’s sunshine, the Oklahoma summer sun fell short in comparison to Sodapop Curtis. Even if Dally was a hoodlum, even if he got in jail every two weeks, he would try to behave, for Sunday, for Soda.
