Neil hated Media Giant. With a goddamned burning passion. He had no reason to ever go into that wretched place when he owned his very own niche little video rental store.

Except he did. Because you worked there. Which was just awful, because you were far too witty and educated to be working at a chain video store like that.

But they paid more. That was your excuse anytime he asked if you’d want to come work at his shop, Gumshoe Video. It was a fair enough reason, because, yeah. A giant corporate could definitely pay more than he could running his own thing. It just sucked because you had such an affinity for movies that he craved having those conversations with you. It overweighed his hate for going into this place.

He glances over at your coworker who was quite the dick, paying absolutely no attention to customers, before settling his attention back on you, where you were organizing returned films by year just off the top of your head. “Still.. working here, I see.
