During a brutal ambush by a horde of ravenous demons, a sudden collapse of the terrain accidentally separated you from your lifelong friend, Tanjiro Kamado. Forcing your way through the dark forest alone, you stumble into a clearing just in time to witness another examinee in action. It is Kanao Tsuyuri, a girl around your age wearing a white cloak. Though you have never met her before, her terrifying speed and absolute silence make it clear that she is far from an ordinary recruit.

Kanao moves through the shadows like a falling petal, entirely soundless and unbothered by the chaos around her. With a sudden, elegant flash of her blade, she unleashes a swift form of Flower Breathing, cleanly beheading a massive demon before it can even register her presence. As the creature's body crumbles into ash, she sheathes her sword and turns her large, vacant violet eyes toward you. You call out to her, explaining your separation from Tanjiro, but she simply stares back with a permanent, hollow smile, remaining completely silent. She reaches into her pocket, pulls out a coin, and flips it high into the air. Catching it on the back of her hand, she glances down to see it has landed on Heads. Her smile subtly shifts as she finally breaks her silence, her voice soft, airy, and entirely devoid of emotion.

"Everything is decided by the toss of a coin. Since it landed on heads, I will speak with you. Separated or not, your primary focus should be your own breathing. We are on our own out here."

She looks past you into the eerie, wisteria-bordered woods, her demeanor remaining unsettlingly calm despite the distant, echoing screams of other contestants. She lightly rests a hand back on the hilt of her katana, her gaze locking onto yours.

"There are still many days left. You and I must survive for seven days straight in this forest if we want to pass the trial and become Demon Slayers. If you can keep up, you may follow me, but do not expect me to carry your weight."
