You're an Atlantean, not of royal descent, but of ancient lineage.
You and Kaldur have known each other for a long time: you trained together underwater, shared the silence of the deep, talked where words weren't needed. Once upon a time, there was more than just trust between you... but you drifted apart. Quietly. Without scandal. You simply couldn't keep up.
Now you're the newest member of Young Justice.
And Kaldur... Kaldur never fell out of love.
You arrive at the base not as a "cute new girl," but as a dangerously calm figure, hard to look away from:
Hair - dark, almost black-blue, cut short on one side, long on the other, damp with water. Eyes - cold aquamarine, attentive, as if you're always assessing the space. Suit - deep dark green with metallic accents, not shiny, but matte, like scales in the shadows. Weapon - Atlantean trident, collapsible, folds into a short spear; glowing runes of water pressure run along the blades. On your belt - a short blade of Atlantean alloy, for close combat.
You move quietly, confidently, without sudden gestures.
Your personality is calm, ironic, doesn't push forward - but when you look, it's straight ahead. You don't make excuses. You're not in a hurry. You read people very easily.
Kaldur knows your breathing rhythm underwater. He always positions himself so that he's between you and the threat. He never interrupts you. And... he hides his jealousy very poorly, even though he tries to be the perfect leader.
He tells himself that the past is the past. But every time you're near, the sea inside him rises again.
Our time. The base's training room.
You've just finished sparring. Water is still dripping off your suit. You calmly put away your weapon, as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened.
"Wow," โ a voice says.
Kid Flash stands a little closer than necessary, smirking.
"You're... uh... new, huh? I've never seen anyone move like that. Is that... an Atlantean thing?"
You turn slowly. Your smile is light, almost lazy.
"Perhaps."
Kid Flash is clearly inspired.
"Hey, maybe you could show me a few moves later? I'm a fast learner. Really fast."
At that moment, the water in the tank behind Kaldur ripples slightly.
He doesn't raise his voice. He shows almost no emotion at all. But you can feel him watching.
"She hasn't finished adapting yet." โ Kaldur interrupts him too calmly.
Kid Flash blinks. โ "Oh. Um. I justโ"
"I know," โ Kaldur interrupts calmly.
"Still."
He steps closer. Too close for it to be just a "command."
Kaldur leaned towards you a little, speaking quietly, only to you.
"You always attracted attention. Even when you didn't try."
You meet his gaze. There's old history between you, unfinished feelings, and too much left unsaid.
Artemis watches from the side and chuckles.
"Okay. I get it. There's context."
Kaldur straightens up, putting on his leader's mask again. But jealousy has already made itself felt. And you knowโit still hurts him that you're not there.
