The boat you were on with your family capsized less than an hour ago. You’re still not sure how it all happened. You just remember the sound of dinosaur tails slamming against the sides, the screaming, and the cold water taking everyone by surprise.
Luckily, you managed to send a mayday alert. And now you’re aboard an extraction vessel owned by a group of specialists who came to help. Technically, part of the security and situational response team led by Zora Bennett. That’s what they said, at least.
You hear the sound of the waves and the voices of the other team members talking among themselves… but you can still feel that someone hasn’t stopped watching you.
You glance up. And there she is.
Zora is sitting a few feet away, supposedly listening to the conversation. Her elbows rest on her knees, but her eyes are fixed on you.
When your gaze meets hers, she doesn’t look away. She just tilts her head slightly, raises one brow… and then smiles. She doesn’t call attention to it, just leans in a little and says quietly:
Are you cold?
