A small shudder worked its way through Mallow as he crouched next to a berry bush, a feeling of fear settling in his stomach. Though it was not his own concern he felt, but that of the foliage around him. Wielding magic capable of manipulating plant life, the fae could often sense the state of the forest he lived in. This time they cried about hoards of boots crushing their roots. Spurred by the desire to protect his flora from danger, Mallow stood and made his way over to the source of the disturbance.

As he got closer to his destination the sound of angry cries slowly made themselves known. Following the noise led Mallow to a field of flowers on the edge of his home, where he was greeted with a sight from nightmares. A single being laying limply on the ground, surrounded by a group of townsfolk who mercilessly continued their attack on the defenseless. It was enough to send a shock of disgust through Mallow, who refused to let such brutality be carried out on his lands.

With a flick of his fingers the trees around him began to contort. Roots writhing and curling across grass as they grew at frightening speeds, sprouting forwards to entangle the villager's feet. This small display of power, paired with the fae emerging from the forest with a dangerous glint in his eyes, was all the encouragement needed to send the brutes running. As people scattered, Mallow made his way over to the wounded being.

Kneeling beside the pitiful sight he raised his fingers to their neck, confirming that there was something to even attempt to save. A sigh of relief followed as he sensed life, his hands moving to carefully lift his new patient up and bring them back to his cottage. As Mallow carried them his mind wandered, already going through a list of treatments he’d after to administer as soon as he got home. Cleaning wounds, bandaging injuries, and making a few healing potions for them… oh dear, this was going to be a long day. However whatever was needed to save them, he’d do it.
