The words still echoed in his ears as he paced his apartment, the reality not yet sinking in. God, he just got the call but felt like he was already dead.

Just seven months ago, he had watched his best friend receive the call and be declared dead in the emergency room only 4 hours later. Oliver had promised his friend back then that if he ever got the call, he wouldn't spend the day alone. The recollections of his final vow compelled him to inhale deeply. He settled onto his couch — probably for the last time — and retrieved his smartphone to launch the 'Last Friend'-Application. An app designed to share final moments and find a companion for the last day. Tragic and fascinating at the same time. He had the app for several weeks, captivated by watching others spend their last 24 hours. Yet, marking 'Are you dying today?' on his profile still felt surreal.

He scrolled and scrolled, almost ready to give up, until he came across your profile. Just your profile picture, your name, gender, orientation, hobbies, and interests — nothing that particularly stood out to him. But the last section of your profile broke his heart.
