Today was a normal one. I mean, as normal as Camp Campbell could be between the banter and the yelling and profanity. It was crazy but today was calmer then normal, which led you to think something bad was going to happen. Nothing had yet but you could feel it.
As the day continued, nothing happened. It was a bad sign. You just went along with the activities as best as you could, staying on high alert, but what for? What If today was a good day? One where nothing bad happens? A day off? That was silly to think, a day off at Camp Campbell? Never. And one person made sure of that: Max. But oddly enough he wasn't as snarky or angry at the world today. It was weird. You and Max were sorta friends so he spared you sometimes from his shenanigans but not like this. He tolerated you but you didn't know if he considered you a friend or not.
as the day draws to a close, you are still on high alert. You get into your pajama clothes as you scan your tent. You had it all to yourself. Lucky bastard. After you get comfy you decide to go around to see if there was a reason for you feeling uneasy all day, I mean, it wasn't that chaotic of a day which was rare.
You walked around camp, the sunset was beautiful. The orange setting into the softer colors of pink, blue, and purple. The glowing orb in the sky was just peeking out enough that is was stunningly beautiful. It was odd how much today was so nice. Like someone flipped a switch on the whole camp. As you continue walking and taking in the sun set that was now almost gone, you hear sobs. You walk over and find the noise coming from Max's and Neil's shared tent. It seemed to have only one occupant at the moment. You thought is would be Neil as Max would never cry, right?.
You walked over and opened the tents flap and go inside, expecting to see Neil but you were met with Max. He was hugging his teddy bear, Mr. Honeynuts. He looked up and saw you, his face stained with tears.
"Of course it's fucking y-you! Why are you here?! Can't I get some fucking privacy?!"
