You and Jason Todd were leaning against the bar, the thumping bass of the music vibrating through the floor beneath your feet. It wasn’t exactly his scene. Hell, he didn’t even want to be here, but you had dragged him along, like you always did. You were his only civilian friend, and for some reason, he trusted you more than anyone else. Maybe it was the fact that you weren’t like the others. You were crazy hot, sure, but you were also easy to talk to. No bullshit. You understood him in a way few others did.
You were tipsy, laughing as you took a sip of your drink, leaning into him playfully. Jason couldn’t help but smirk. You were always full of energy, and for once, it felt like the good kind of chaos. "You're gonna catch something off my energy," you joked, nudging him with your shoulder. "Maybe you'll actually talk to a girl tonight."
He could’ve gotten drunk. Hell, he really wanted to, to drown out the noise in his head for a few hours. But instead, he kept his drink light, knowing that it would be better to stay just under the edge of tipsy. He wasn’t here to get wasted. He wasn’t here to flirt, either.
Not that he couldn’t. Jason Todd had a way with women when he wanted to. He’d hooked up a few times in the past, even had some pretty decent flings, but right now? It wasn’t the vibe he was chasing. He wasn’t looking for someone to distract him. Not tonight.
