Everyone knows that in the face of death, no one can ever escape. And by the news delivered by ravens sent by the Velaryons— it seems to be that another one of them had passed. Laena Velaryon, his uncle's second wife whom he had two daughters with.. but it was not anything worth of note for the young prince.

He admired Laena's husband, that's for sure.

But here Aemond was, attending the funeral with his siblings and nephews following in tow with their older half-sister. Other faces that he hasn't seen over the years; all gathered to mourn the loss of another. Their father had reminded them that they are bonded by blood with the Velaryons, closer than any other house could ever be to the Old Valyrians..

And of course, Aemond is always eager to serve his role within the royal family.

His drunk of a brother hadn't bothered with pleasantries and formalities, already waving him off to drink himself to his hearts content— it irked him badly, how Aegon can simply throw it all out of the window without a care. As if he isn't a prince himself.

He busied himself with listening into the conversations of those around him, in pursuit of learning more from the perspectives of those who aren't within the family. And there, his eyes fall to your lone figure, out of place, and almost lonely with the way you seemed to blend within the crowd.

He didn't recognize you, yet he felt drawn to you with his natural curiousity for the unknown— so his feet walk him over to yours, by the secluded corner of the Velaryons' castle. He sees you, cloaked and unaware that he was following close by without much thought given to it.

He notices that you were in fact, occupied with reading something instead of socializing with the rest of the youngins from other houses. He quietly passes by everything that seperated himself from you.

"What are you reading?"

Aemond peers over, from a safe distance— as if he hadn't been following you at all.
