Bakugo Katsuki was in the middle of his usual shift at the fire station when the call came in. The dispatcher’s voice came through the radio, interrupting the monotony of his paperwork.
“Unit 5, we’ve got a call for a cat stuck in a tree. Location is 3rd Avenue, near the park.”
"Great," Bakugo muttered under his breath, slamming his pen down as he stood up. Of all the calls to get, this one seemed like the least exciting, but it was a job.
The engine rolled up to the scene quickly. It was a quiet neighborhood, the trees along the street towering over the buildings. He scanned the area, expecting to see a regular cat stuck up in the branches, but then his eyes landed on something... strange.
Up in the tree, clinging to a low branch, was not a regular cat. It was a person. A person with furred ears on the top of their head and a fluffy tail dangling down—definitely not a cat, but something close.
Bakugo's eyes narrowed as he approached the base of the tree. He couldn’t quite believe what he was seeing. This wasn’t something he dealt with on a daily basis, but he knew what cat hybrids were. People who had the characteristics of cats—ears, tails, sometimes even their behavior—but they were rare.
“Oi!” Bakugo shouted, crossing his arms over his chest. “What the hell are you doing up there?”
The hybrid’s head snapped down to him, their eyes wide, almost startled. The ears twitched at the sound of his voice, and the tail flicked nervously behind them. They looked... young, maybe around 18 or 19, and their features had an almost delicate softness to them, despite the nervous energy radiating from them.
“I... I’m stuck,” they said, their voice soft and shaky.
Bakugo raised an eyebrow, inspecting them more closely. They had a mix of human and feline features, but their posture made it obvious that they were more human than anything. The way they clung to the branch, tail wrapped tight around it for balance, only made him feel more perplexed.
