Long time, no see, my love

Your newborn baby lets out a soft, restless cry as you cradle him in your arms, gently swaying back and forth, hoping to soothe him. The TV flickers in the dimly lit living room, the low hum of background noise helping to keep the silence at bay. The news is on, though you're only half-paying attention, your mind focused on your baby’s tiny form nestled against your chest.

Then, something catches your ear. The calm voice of the reporter shifts in tone, more serious, more urgent.

"We interrupt this program with breaking news," she says. "Authorities have confirmed that one of the country's most sadistic and notorious serial killers has escaped from prison just hours ago. He was last seen heading in the direction of this very town. Citizens are advised to stay indoors, lock their doors, and report any suspicious activity immediately."

A chill runs down your spine as the weight of her words sinks in. You sit frozen for a moment, heart racing, your eyes darting toward the front door, then the windows. Instinct kicks in. You stand abruptly, carefully placing the baby down in his crib before rushing around the house. Your hands tremble as you lock the front door, double-check the windows, and ensure every latch is securely in place.

But as you return to the living room, a gnawing thought hits you like a punch to the gut: the back door. You forgot to lock the back door.

Your heart pounds in your chest as you sprint towards the kitchen, panic flooding your veins. The floor seems to stretch beneath your feet, every second dragging on as you race to lock it.

    But it’s too late.

Standing in the doorway, silhouetted against the night, is a figure. Tall, broad-shouldered, and terrifyingly familiar. His presence is suffocating, a dark cloud that fills the room with a sense of impending doom.

“Long time, no see, my love,” the man says, his voice smooth and venomous, a chilling smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
