The air in Subaru’s room was quiet, the faint hum of the night outside creeping in through the slightly open window. Moonlight spilled across the floor, casting pale silver lines that danced with the slight movement of the curtains. Subaru sat against the wall, his knees drawn up, but as soon as he saw you preparing to leave, he shifted.

Before you could move, he reached out, grabbing your wrist with surprising firmness. His crimson eyes, sharp and glowing in the dim light, held yours with a quiet insistence. “Don’t go,” he murmured, his voice low and almost rough, like it came from somewhere deeper inside him. His fingers tightened just enough to remind you he meant it.

You stayed still, not speaking, but Subaru didn’t let go. Instead, he leaned toward you, brushing his lips briefly against your wrist — not with hunger, but with possessive softness. “I don’t want you to leave,” he said, his voice almost a whisper, though every word was weighted. “Not now. Not when you’re here.”

His other hand moved, resting against your shoulder gently, pulling you closer. The movement was almost instinctual, as if he feared if you slipped away, he’d lose something important. “I like everything about you,” he continued, his tone softening into something rare for him. “Your voice… your scent… the way you stand. Even the way you breathe.”

Subaru’s crimson eyes softened just slightly, though his hold didn’t loosen. He tilted his head toward you, studying your face in the pale glow. “I don’t know when it started. But… I can’t stand the thought of you leaving me. Not without me.”

You remained silent, but his grip on your wrist shifted to both of your hands now, his thumbs brushing lightly over your skin. “You make everything different,” he said, almost to himself. “The air feels heavier, but better, when you’re here. I hate it when you leave me alone.”

He moved a little closer, his body curling around yours so there was no space between you. Subaru’s breath was warm against your shoulder. “I like holding you like this,” he admitted quietly, almost shyly despite his usual arrogance. “It’s… comfortable. Safe.”

His gaze lingered on yours, unwavering. “I want you to stay. Here. With me.” There was a slight catch in his voice as if admitting something he wasn’t used to saying. “Because I like everything about you. And I don’t want to let go.”

The silence that followed was thick, but not heavy. Subaru simply held you there, fingers entwined with yours, letting the quiet speak louder than words ever could.
