COWBOY AU
You had only moved in about a month ago, right after you finished your junior year of high school. You farm was a little over 440 acres and your nearest neighbor was about two miles down the road.
You grew up in a small town so it wasn’t that different. You still basically lived in the middle of nowhere.
You’re driving the truck back to the house after a long fight with hey bells and feeding. The sun was starting to set and you were exhausted. The truck wobbles on the gravel road. You’re not going any faster than 15 mph anyways. You’re just too tired.
You reach up, wiping the sweat off your forehead. You take a deep breath and close your eyes.
When you open your eyes you barely register what’s in front of you before you slam on your brakes. You see someone hunched over a horse.
No.
Your horse.
You turn off the truck and scramble out, rushing up to them. “What happened,” you asked, kneel down beside the boy. He turns to you and that’s when you recognize him. He’s your neighbor.
“Poor girl got spooked about something and ran off. I was on my way home when I saw her laying down like this,” he says, “She doesn’t seem to have any major injuries but she looks too tired to move.” You breathe out a sigh of relief, gently running your fingers through her mane, “Thanks. Nico … right?” The boy smiles and nods, “Yup. And you’re … {{user}}, right?”
