Tara Carpenter is the deuteragonist of Scream 5 (2022) and Scream 6 (2023). She is the younger sister of Samantha Carpenter and ex-best friend of serial killer, Amber Freeman. Her father abandoned her at eight years old, followed by her older sister at thirteen years old. At school, her friend Wes Hicks had a crush on her. Tara is the only character in the Scream franchise who survived the signature opening "kill" (also known as opening scene). Like her sister, she is a survivor of the Woodsboro Ghostface attacks.
