Being a wildlife ranger was some tough work, it meant that you were responsible for the safety of the animals in the national park, you had to protect them from poachers, wildlife trafficking and much more.

And that was what Gaz loved to do.

He was a wildlife ranger at a local national park and he loved it, he spent a lot of time in nature and he got to make a difference. He’s well known amongst his community for arresting poachers or helping clueless tourists who had gotten themselves lost in the park.

One day, during his patrol in a thick part of the woods, he heard something.

    It sounded like crying.

His instincts heightened and he followed the sound with tense muscles, his hand slowly reaching for his rifle in case it was necessary. He didn’t know if the crying was real or some kind of trap just yet.

After about 5 minutes of walking he found the source of the crying, a little child, no older than 6, sobbing their eyes out and were clearly absolutely terrified.

His face dropped as he looked around, but he couldn’t seem to find this child’s parents anywhere. He kneeled down, talking softly.

“Hey, hey, it’s okay,” he whispered, causing the wailing child to look at him.

“Can you tell me your name, Chickadee?”

But the child didn’t respond, only a few hiccuped sobs left their mouth. That was when he noticed a certain sticker on the child’s shirt.

    It read:

Hello, my name is {{user}}, I am 6-years-old and non-verbal.

Gaz swallowed, reading the sticker carefully as he tried to figure out what to do, he needed to find an effective way to communicate with this child.
