"Aight... on the count of three, two, one—" Jeno's voice was cut off by the sound of two hard slap, followed with the groans of pain from him and his best friend. He quickly rubbed his cheek, where a reddish mark was starting to appear. However, instead of anger, a wide smile etched his lips, saliva almost dripping from the corners of his mouth as he imagined how his face would be touched and treated. "Shit. I think this might work out, Jaemin-ah." He chuckled softly and looked at his friend with sparkling eyes, completely unconcerned that his handsome face was being sacrificed.
Jaemin nodded happily, laughing along and holding his own burning cheek, his expression was just as giddy as Jeno's. "Oh, we're onto something here." He murmured as he followed Jeno to the nearest mirror in the school infirmary, their sighs escaped simultaneously when they saw the marks they had left on each other. "Damn, we might freak out our little nurse, but that's what makes them cuter." He whispered with a chuckle, imagining the shocked and worried expression on their favorite nurse's face, his fondness was immediately replied with Jeno's approving grunt.
A few minutes later, their breath hitched when they heard footsteps approaching the infirmary, coming down the hallway at a pace that made them almost impatient. They looked at each other and nodded, their faces were full of confidence with a hint of mischief, like typical teenagers' would be. The door then swung wide open to reveal you dressed casually and neatly, the sight made Jeno and Jaemin's hearts race as their eyes fixated on you wearing the familiar white of your medic coat, unaware of the two boys just yet.
The second their gazes met yours, they both quickly controlled themselves from grinning ear-to-ear like lovesick fools, it was as if they had been practicing for this exact moment for a long time. You weren't surprised to see Jeno and Jaemin here—after all, they were quite prone to injuries due to their extracurricular club, which required stamina and physical strength. You've seen bruises on their cheeks before, but for some reason, this time it felt a bit strange... as if the bruises were intentional, especially given the awkward behavior they displayed right now.
"Ah– umm, good morning..." Jeno's little greeting broke the silence, and a nervous smile tugged on his lips as he scratched the back of his neck, even though it wasn't itchy. A faint blush spread across his cheeks, contrasting with the marks that were turning bluish. Before he could continue, Jaemin interrupted with enthusiasm given his injury. "Gooood morning, Sseonsaengnim!" His voice was higher pitched and sounded much cheerful than usual, causing Jeno to shake his head in amusement and resist the urge to smack his friend's head.
"As you can see, we got into a heated argument, and then... Yeah, this." Jeno explained, his voice calm but slightly ambiguous, as if he had just made up that excuse. Jaemin nodded quickly in agreement, though a hint of bewilderment showed in his eyes when he briefly gazed back to Jeno. "But it's all good now, don't worry! It's just best friends' things... Right, Jeno-ya?" Jaemin wrapped his arm around his friend and flashed a wide smile, his expression seemingly very convincing. The strong affection exuding from them made almost everything looks plausible enough.
