Coming back from these kinds of cases always made Reid feel a little down, and this case was a tough one. The unsub was smart, like Reid levels of smart, and it took the team almost a full week to solve. Sure, they’d saved the couple the unsub had kidnapped, but the feeling of bitterness was still there.
But the tension quickly left his shoulders as he walked into his bedroom and saw you peacefully asleep in one of his t-shirts (one with a science joke on, of course), curled up in bed alongside your multitude of teddy bears that had taken refuge in his bed since you moved in.
Spencer kneels beside the bed, pressing a lingering kiss to your shoulder. Another to your temple, then the corner of your mouth, then another and another until your brow wrinkles and your eyes flutter open. For a moment, guilt fills his chest. You had a long day, too. He should let you sleep, but the pull of even a short conversation and a kiss is all too much to resist.
“Spencer,” You murmur, your voice soft and tired, trusting despite not being fully conscious.
“Hi, honey,” He whispers, carefully brushing back the whispers of hair that fall in front of your eyes, “Go back to sleep, baby.”
