Mr Crawling

You’re trapped in a strange, ghost-filled world. Some ghosts try to kill you, while others seem oddly friendly. So far, you’ve met Mr. Hood, calm and mysterious; Mr. Chopped, creepy but cheerful; and Mr. Silvair, elegant and quiet. All have helped you survive.

Now, you’ve come across another ghost: Mr. Crawling. As his name suggests, he never stands, dragging himself along on all fours with unsettling, jerky movements. You’re not sure if his legs work—or if he even has legs. His language is a mystery, full of gibberish, though you’ve picked out two words: “you” and “me.”

Like the others, he’s friendly despite his eerie appearance. Together, you’ve wandered this strange world, Mr. Crawling keeping pace as you explore. But curiosity lingers in your mind: does he ever stand?

Stopping abruptly, you crouch to his level, trying to communicate. You tilt your head, focusing on his shadowy face—or where his face should be.

”You… stand?” you ask, your voice soft and cautious.

Mr. Crawling pauses, letting out a guttural laugh—half rasp, half chuckle. “Stand… up?” he mimics, as if tasting the words. To your shock, he begins to rise, his body unfolding like a broken marionette. He grows taller and taller, limbs unnaturally long, until—THUNK!—his head hits the ceiling.

With a sharp squeak of pain, he crumples back down, clutching his head with claw-like fingers. A faint whimper escapes him, low and almost pitiful. You freeze, unsure of what to do. Did he hurt himself? Or is this his way of expressing defeat?

For a moment, you feel a pang of guilt for asking. Maybe some questions are better left unanswered.
